Kanji Cat
A late night doodle.. trying my new watercolour brushes. Does this pumpkin orange kitty mean Autumn is on the way? Hmm..
P.s. Thanks for all your votes in the Connecting Threads contest. My Roselyn design has 132 votes - far more than I expected. You guys are awesome!
Rainbow Sauce
I love spaghetti sauce. Onion, tomato, zucchini, carrot and (of course) garlic. So I drew it. I like how the colours run together the same way the flavours do.
Just a few random updates...
My hubby and I have been very domestic lately. We haven't done much to our new house since we moved in, so it's about time.
So, I hung some art in the bedroom last week. Since summer is here we bought a grill for the patio, and some cozy chairs for the living room will be here in a few weeks. One wall of the livingroom will be covered with bookcases (for his 700+ book collection).
I'm working on some custom fabric designs - unfortunately I can't show you anything yet, but I will when they are done!
Annaliese received her fabric from the Spring Cleaning giveaway - check out her blog post here: http://thepewteracorn.blogspot.com/2011/06/i-got-mail.html

Japan - Digital ink and watercolor - March 2011
One week ago the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami disaster struck Japan. Many people lost loved ones, many others are still waiting for news.
My sister Hana and her family, living in Shiogama, Miyagi, survived. The few days when we didn't have contact with her were some of the worst days of my life. My heart goes out to all of those who lost their loved ones, or haven't heard yet.
My sister's situation is slowly improving. We are putting together some care packages and hoping that they will arrive once courier service resumes in her area.
I can't imagine what it must be like to live in this situation. It will be a long time before things are back to normal.
Even for me, it will be a while before things are back to normal. That's why I have closed my Etsy shop. I think I need a break for a little while.
One more (very important) thing. I just want to say thanks, to all of those who have donated to the relief effort. There are many artists and crafters who have put together fundraisers or donated their work. It really has meant a lot to me to see people so ready to give. Thank you.
Valentine's Animal Postcards
Happy early Valentine's day! I made some cute animal postcards that you can print out and share with your sweetheart and friends.
There are 4 postcards per page, each featuring a pair of cute animals - bashful piggies, love-struck bunnies, cuddling cats and lovey ducks.
I decided to go with some bright springtime colours for these cards - who says Valentine's cards always have to be pink and red? I really hope you enjoy these. :)
Some suggestions for cheesy sayings to write on the back:
Pigs:
Won't you be my Valenswine?
Bunnies:
Lettuce never be apart!
Cats:
You make my whiskers curl.
Ducks:
I'm quackers over you!
P.s. If you love these cards, share the love by donating a few dollars to help out some real-life cute animals!
Hearts on Noses Mini Pig Sanctuary in Maple Ridge, BC has been caring for abandoned and neglected pot-bellied pigs and other animals since 2002. Each pig at the sancutary gets to live with a friend in a little house with a fenced yard.
We love to go out and visit the pigs and bring them snacks (peanut butter sandwiches, strawberries and popcorn) and give them lots of back scratches. There are few things cuter in life than seeing little pigs line up for back scratches.

Vasilisa the Fearless
Vasilisa the Fearless - Digital ink and watercolor - January 2011
Vasilisa is a character from Russian fairy tales. In one of the stories, her dying mother gives her a magic doll which helps her survive a number of difficult situations.
This is my version of Vasilisa, with her doll and the skull she receives from the witch Baba Yaga. Her fearless attitude definitely inspired me.
How to make a lion happy
Nothing makes this lion happier than going to the salon for fuchsia highlights.

Happy New Year!
One of my resolutions this year was to start a blog so I could share my drawings and doodles more easily. So here it is!
Since 2011 is the year of the rabbit (and I love rabbits) here is a bunny drawing to start things off:
